Music Lessons
C Major 7 Music Center is currently offering Voice , Violin, Piano and Drumming lessons to students ages 5 years old to Adult. All Students attend weekly 30 or 60 minute lessons.
When selecting an instrument for a child, we encourage the parent expose the child to all instruments and also attending a free trial lesson to discuss the options and the right fit for the child. Parents should we willing to learn the instrument of choice as the parent will act as the teacher during practice time at home. For students ages 5 to 12 years old, parents will need to be present in all lessons to take notes. Students must attend their weekly lessons as consistency is the key to learning a musical instrument. Students should always bring materials that were provided by their instructor to their weekly lesson. It is important for all students to practice daily as it is vital to develop the skills that they are striving to achieve. |
Our Instructors
We are dedicated to providing quality music education for all of our students. Therefore, our instructors are experienced musicians as well as experienced music educators.
Courtney Giles Baity - Courtney is a professional instructor, and the founder of C Major 7 Music Center of Chicago. She is a trained musician who began studying Suzuki Violin at the age of 3 and has loved music her entire life. She started her piano training at the age of 10. By the age of 14, Courtney attended the Chicago Academy for the Arts where she deepened her passion for singing and developing her vocal technique. Courtney advanced her training at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Music. She then showed her strong ability to teach what she loved and earned an Orff Certification from DePaul University. Throughout the years Courtney has performed, taught, and inspired many who love to sing!
Courtney Giles had young students cast in a production of Annie and Rent. She directed a children’s choir in Chatham and The Y Voices sing Chorus at the South Side YMCA. These choirs sang for the 2011 Chicago’s Christmas Tree lighting Ceremony. Additionally, Courtney has toured Europe singing in cities in Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and France in 2003, performs annually for fundraising Galas around the City of Chicago and opened the 2012 Taste of Chicago that headlined Jennifer Hudson. |
Phillip Fornett started drumming in grade school under the tutelage of John Weber. He graduated from Thornton Township High School where he was a member of Concert, Marching and Jazz band. There he gathered such accolades as Section Leader and Chicago Area Jazz Fest Outstanding Jazz Performance and Best Section Player. From there he began his formal music education training at Northern Illinois University’s School of Music. At Northern, he played for NIU School of Dance & Top Jazz Combo. Additionally, Phil performed in the lounge band on a four month tour on Carnival Cruise Line ship Fantasy and has played for such world renowned artists as the late, great Billy Preston, Howard Hewitt and Stevie Wonder. He has toured Italy with the gospel group, Piece of My Soul. He has played drums for the off Broadway rendition of the play Dream girls at the prestigious ABJ Center of the Arts.
Mr. Phil studied music performance at Northern Illinois University and music education at Chicago State University. Phil has served as part of the music ministry staff for six churches in the Chicago land area and currently he is at Revival Tabernacle Church in Chicago. He still gives private drum lessons to youth. Presently he is an outreach teacher in Chicago Public Schools, teaching literacy through music. He also teaches for The Chicago Jazz Philharmonic as an after school drum line instructor. |
The Music House
In May of 2010, Founder, Courtney Giles Baity conducted a benefit and collected donations from supporters. All of these proceeds, 100% would go to benefit music education programs in the Chatham Community
In May of 2011, Courtney founded a Children’s Choir. Courtney led and directed the children to sing in multiple events, including the 2011 City of Chicago Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Daley Plaza, as well as a spring concert In August of 2012, Courtney started offering private voice lessons to students in her home August of 2014, Courtney created an LLC. She increased her student population and procured a contract with the Archdiocese of Chicago School C Major 7 Music Center Hosted its first concert as a Tribute to Black History on February 28, 2015 at the St Joachim Church in Chicago. The Music House is where all the magic happens for the students of C Major 7 Music Center |

The students created a music series where they pick a song, arrange, perform and record them.

Pricing |
Students receive 46 lessons per year and participate in at least one recital, concert, fundraiser or performance per year that is based on student readiness and availability. Students should review the calendar to see non attendance days. The cost per month is $300 for a weekly one-hour lesson. |
Literacy In Music
We provide literacy in music classes to Daycare programs. We focus on motivating students to read at an early age. In our classes, we incorporate music, movement and literacy while teaching the fundamentals such as: Language Skills Letter Recognition Concepts of Print Phonological Awareness Music training improves the process of reading by sharpening the brain’s attention to sound. We use literacy and music therapy for the development of early learners.

Pricing |
We provide all the Instruments, visual aids and literacy tools, the daycare provides the space and the students. Because we like to provide small classes and give individualized attention, classes should not exceed 8 students. Classes are 45 minutes in length. The first class is $300 and $150 for each additional class on the same day. Please note that we require a 15 minute setup/break down.
